Balance and stability: the transition from ascent to peak
April marks the transition from spring to summer, a period characterised by growing balance and stability. During this month, the energy of Aries (latter phase) settles into a steadier rhythm. The initial phase of Aries (in March) is defined by the act of “ignition”: the impulse of a seed breaking through the soil and the desire to initiate a new world. By April, however, the overall trend shifts from impulse to stability; anticipation remains, but a sense of confidence gradually replaces the earlier urgency.
A sense of order amidst the ascent
April embodies growth. This growth is no longer sudden. As spring thunder rumbles and rainfall increases, the growth of all things unfolds with the orderly sense characteristic of Taurus. Taurus governs patient cultivation; spring seedlings emerge, take shape, strengthen their roots, and steadily grow into established forms.
The flow of wisdom: influences from the trough
April carries a lingering moisture from the cold winter. Intellectual, detached, or philosophical ideas associated with Aquarius (yes, they stemmed from a full season prior) begin to thaw. Under the influence of Aries’ dynamic drive, this wisdom begins to flow, gaining a sense of purpose that bridges the gap between thought and action.
This moisture also lends a certain fluidity to the Taurus energy of April (it is gradually “dried out” as the season progresses into the warmer latter half of Taurus in May).
Wealth
Spring rain nourishes the soil, while increasing sunlight fosters the growth and flourishing of all things. This material aspect is linked to Taurus and the Second House of the Zodiac, representing resources, nourishment, value, and wealth.
Such wealth stems from creation, cultivation, and sustained effort, carrying with it a sense of legitimacy and order. It differs from the irregularity associated with the harvest, inheritance, and the distribution of the fruits of labour, which are linked to the Eighth House of the Zodiac and Scorpio in autumn.
